Cavy Cages - A Question About Coroplast

The following is a cavy cages question for BlueStoneCommerce which was received on our BlueStoneCommerce YouTube Channel:

"I was going to order coroplast on the internet, but how big is one sheet of coroplast?" - mal152010

Just like standard building materials (e.g. plywood, drywall, panelling, etc.), Coroplast is sold in 4-ft x 8-ft sheets.
We like to use the 4mm thickness for building cavy cages (guinea pig cages)

Over the years, many people have reported having trouble finding Coroplast for their cavy cages.
A few have managed to find it in hardware stores like Home Depot. However, I have never seen it in any hardware store in our area.

We have found that the most reliable place to get Coroplast is to contact a local sign shop. In fact, contact several because prices vary greatly. And be sure to tell them that it's for a guinea pig cage. They may just give you a better price it they know that you're not a competitor.

Also, figure out the exact dimensions of the piece you will need ahead of time. Some shops will cut it for you for little or no cost. Even better - some shops will charge you only for the size you get - not for the entire 4x8 sheet.

  1. Which means that you'll cut only partly with the sheet. The item is to cut just the top top of the sheet departing the underside wall untouched. If done properly, you'll have the ability to fold the plastic in the score line.
